Nissan Motor Co.
and its French partner
Renault SA
said Monday they reached an agreement to reorganize their more than two-decade-old alliance.
Nissan and Renault have agreed to a deal under which the French auto maker will reduce its 43% stake in Nissan to 15%, the companies said. Renault will transfer 28% of its Nissan shares into a French trust, they said.
Nissan will invest in Renault’s electric vehicle business, they said. Nissan didn’t disclose the size of its investment.
The agreement is being finalized and remains subject to the approval of the companies’ boards, they said.
