‘NYPD Blue’ first premiered on ABC in 1993 and became one of the most popular series of the ’90s and early 2000s. Some may be surprised that there were actually boycotts of the show when it first aired due to its nudity and vulgar language, according to ‘TODAY’. However, the boycotts only made the customers of stations willing to air it all that more interested, and it became a hit. It ended up airing for 12 years and was a show full of shock, thrill, lust, loss, and heart.
A reboot was greenlit in 2019, with Kim Delaney reprising her role as Det. Diane Russell and Bill Brochtrup coming back as PPA John Irvin, per Deadline. However, the show has yet to make its way back to television screens.
Fans can see stars Sharon Lawrence, James McDaniel, Nick Turturro, Jimmy Smits, Dennis Franz, Gail O’Grady, and Gordon Clapp in the press photo seen above. For more photos from the hit show, scroll through HollywoodLife‘s gallery.
